An Elaborated Couch Potato

Once deprecated couch potatoes, little does I think I would become one of those big fat lads. So suddenly, one day, I find myself only among one of them but also elaborate their traditions: eating massively in tea time, munching crunchies in front of a computer or lying in bed licking ice cream. Minus the magnified effects, I just make it to spoil myself once in a “while”.

Socceroo fever is injected into majority Australian population. For tonight’s Australia Vs Italia tournament, Lygon street will be closed. Two bulky TV screen will be installed to cater the both soccer crazy Australian and Italian. “Buu…Buu…Bu!Bu!Bu!” will cheerfully horn for the winner. Blue and white, yellow and green, for Italia and Australia represently, will be mingled and tossing up and down, enflaming the frosty winter night. Sport can always eliminate borders.

On the 21st June, I officially declared TB free, except for a clear white scar seen on my X-ray. So simple, six-months of medication, countless of crying and grievous worries, all ended in such a simple way. Still feeling a bit misery, but I gain more strength to face more hardships ahead.

I find yoga my second favourite after dancing now. Conscience-stricken, I have not been dancing for quite some time now. Why? My time is devoted to Z, always cancel the Sunday night class. But for Yoga, its time is more flexible. Besides, the intensity of its exercise more relaxing than intense, which suits a brain drain worker after a full day of work. The ancient Mediation could really calm me down.

A wedding function

I find myself be more and more fond of stage musical play; not the very classical ones but those with actors singing and performing on the stage. Does that mean I am getting old? Yes, without denial, I become more cogitative, prefer to stay at home to read a book rather than going to drink in a pub.

On Saturday night, I went to work in a wedding function on the top floor in the Flemington racecourse Grand stand. OMG, an Italian married a Greek. You can imagine how noisy it can be. After that night, I was wiped out, not be able to get up till midday on the next day. No more!

The way I am

Called Northern Ireland yesterday; over there must be wee hours at the time the phone rang. For years, we have been sending each other present, simple but weighty. At the age of 23, can we still claim we are young? Not really. Are we sophisticated to knock over the world’s door? We may be a bit too thin. However, our hearts are always pure for each other, at the time in needs, at the time when storms come.

Last night I confronted with a matter that bought up something deep inside my mind without I even noticed it before. At quite a few occasions, when I have conversations with Z, my inmost feeling always tries to defend a stand that goes against something he is talking about. I don’t know what it is until last night - that is my inner moral stand. The principle that shapes my philosophy, the guideline I have been following since I was a kid. You can say I am stupid to follow such an unset rule and make life difficult. In many people’s mind, there is no harm to do some round-the-corner petty actions, which they can get “something”. Sorry, you are talking to the wrong person. I am not a stoic but I have a parameter on the least ground. I prefer to walk a straight unmasked way, even though it may mean I will never get to my destination.

Cloris's days

It is a Friday night, Cloris is only just sitting quietly in her bedroom. She is pounding on her future and the track she is currently wheeling down her life. She is a both lucky and unlucky girl – being surrounding with love from family, friends and lover, but at the same time, suffering from sicknesses and uncertainties. She still has to work extremely hard, is still on medication, and still itching with rash day after day. Looming ahead is uncounted days of waiting for the stupid Australian PR, but cheering with foreseen excitement of the Singapore life afterwards. She now has an everydayness work with a big Teleco company - she is a worker at her desk, tapping from 7:30 to 3:30 on most days. She can only be the real her when she is out of that modern but frosty building and spend time with Z. However, faith has to play with her again and is trying to reave him away from her. One more attempt, if that fails, they would both have to drift along the dicey river, hoping to meet again after years of years of trying.

On the other hand, Cloris might be abandoned by K if she does not start practising dance again. If she wants to go out in Sydney, she must have to get back in shape and kick her ass moving again.

Last but not least, this innocent but diligent girl is planning to study a little bit of fashion. Occupying herself when Z is not around, is always better than going out with others in club scenes.

The early starter

An important announcement! Cloris will start her work shift at 7:30 in the morning from Monday to Friday from next Monday. This means that she has to go to sleep early, cut down unnecessary night activities and can not go out as much as she used to. To compensate her lost of night’s full play, she will have half of the afternoon free. This will give her access to bank, post office, retail shops and enough time to exercise herself back to shape. This is just a trial. Achievable or not depends on the power of her alarm clock and the comfortable grading of her bed. Further notice will be posted for the early starter’s progression.

Office politics is inescapable in any workplaces, regardless nationality, industry, company, position and race. We have to deal with it, get away around it and work through it.
